A fantastic opportunity has been created working for a SME business, based locally in Westcliff, as a Part Qualified Accountant. The role will be working closely with the Management Accountant and reporting into the Finance Manager. This will be a very varied role which makes this really appealing and will give you the autonomy to get involved with all aspects of their finance function. 

The role will encompass the following:

• Running the monthly payroll 
• Reconciliation of payroll movements in the period
• Preparation of monthly payroll summaries for posting to the nominal ledger
• Reporting to HMRC
• Running year-end processes (sending out P60s)
• Control of the regular cycle of investments and disinvestments of Money Purchase contributions:
o Investment of contributions/transfers in and disinvestment of members’ benefits
o Rebalancing, lifestyling and switching of members assets
o Posting of contributions and allocation of investment units purchased to members’ records on the administration system
o Preparation of monthly Contribution Schedules and distribution to member firms
• Reconciliation of financial records between the nominal ledger, the administration system and fund manager reports
• Analysis and reconciliation of nominal ledger records including contributions, investments and cashbook balances
• Annual confirmation of contributions received in liaison with firms
• Regular liaison with the bookkeeper, the Administration team and fund managers to resolve issues and queries with receipts, payments, members’ records or other scheme issues
• Upkeep and maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
• Financial control of the Money Purchase Scheme, to control the nominal ledger in accordance with UK GAAP and the SORP for pension schemes, including:
o Analysis and reconciliation of accounts
o Posting journals
• Assisting in the production of management accounts
• Assisting in the production of budgets and forecasts
• Administration of the Group Life Cover Scheme
• Preparation of the annual report and accounts
• Reconciliation of the records relating to the Final Salary Schemes
• Involvement with investment transitions
• Reporting of failure (D&B scores) to management
• Preparation of annual return to the Pensions Regulator
• Quarterly VAT returns

The ideal applicant must have had experience with payroll along with producing month end reports. You should ideally be studying towards the ACCA or CIMA as my client will be keen to support you on this.
